Stefan De Plus

Partner in estate and succession planning

Stefan De Plus specialises in the (family) wealth and succession planning of private individuals and entrepreneurs. After a career in the legal profession and with the 'Big Four', he chose to rejoin the Bar and strengthen Van Steenbrugge Advocaten.

During his law studies at the University of Ghent, Stefan De Plus already opted for estate and inheritance planning. He complemented his education with an additional Master's degree in Notary Law and a postgraduate degree in Estate Planning at the University of Brussels.

Stefan De Plus started as a lawyer at the Dendermonde Bar in 2011, only to swap it for the Brussels Bar one year later. In 2016, he swapped the legal profession for a management position at one of the so-called 'Big Four', in order to share and further expand his knowledge and experience of estate and inheritance planning. At the request of a private bank, he assisted its staff and clients for several months in 2019 with regard to their questions concerning estate and inheritance planning.

Stefan De Plus assists individuals and entrepreneurs with their (cross-border) estate and inheritance planning, including in the area of inheritance law, matrimonial property law and both gift and inheritance tax. He also assists individuals in disputes involving family law and property law.

In addition, he has specific expertise in the transfer of family companies to the next generation, and the legal obligation concerning the UBO register.

He also regularly publishes articles on estate and inheritance planning and the UBO register.
