Jana Riemslagh obtained her Master’s degree in Law (magna cum laude) at Ghent University in June 2018. Throughout her education she was fascinated by human rights and criminal law.
She took part in the Inter-American Moot Court Competition in Washington, after which her team received an award for the ‘second best written memorial’. In the run-up to this Moot Court, she was immersed in the world of international human rights and this sparked her passion for advocacy and her drive to defend those who are treated unfairly by governments. A voluntary project at a human rights firm in South Africa in the summer of 2018 aroused her interest in the legal profession. She complemented her educational career by successfully obtaining an LL.M in Human Rights from the University of Edinburgh and taking an instructive internship at the NGO UN House Edinburgh.
Equipped with an open mind, great passion and the necessary legal and technical baggage, Jana Riemslagh joined Van Steenbrugge Advocaten in October 2019.
