Mr. De Plus specializes in (family) estate and succession planning for individuals and entrepreneurs. After a career in the legal profession and with the “Big Four,” he chose to rejoin the Bar and join VS Advocaten.
Already during his law studies at Ghent University, Mr. De Plus fully opted for estate and inheritance planning. He completed his education with an additional master’s degree in Notarial Law and a postgraduate degree in Estate Planning at the University of Brussels.
Mr. De Plus started as a lawyer at the Dendermonde Bar in 2011, only to exchange it for the Brussels Bar a year later. In 2016, he exchanged the legal profession for a management position at one of the so-called ‘Big Four’, in order to share and further broaden his knowledge and experience in estate and inheritance planning. At the request of a private bank, he assisted its staff and clients for several months in 2019 in connection with their questions regarding estate and succession planning.
Mr. De Plus assists individuals and entrepreneurs with regard to their (cross-border) estate and inheritance planning, including in the areas of inheritance law, matrimonial property law and both gift and inheritance tax. He also assists individuals in family law and estate disputes.
In addition, he has specific expertise regarding the transfer of family enterprises to the next generation and the legal obligation regarding the UBO-register.
He also regularly publishes articles relating to estate and inheritance planning and the UBO register.
